Zero-Downtime Website Migration Checklist for Hospitality Teams

Migrating a live booking engine can feel daunting. A single missed database record or broken DNS record can cause lost booking dates or double bookings. Follow this battle-tested migration protocol to execute a flawless server transition.
The 5-Step Migration Protocol
Step 1: Lower DNS TTL (Time to Live)
48 hours before migration, lower your domain's DNS TTL to 300 seconds (5 minutes). This ensures that when you switch IP addresses, global internet routers update instantly.
Step 2: Staging Environment Replication
Deploy the website code, assets, and database onto the HostSynk staging environment. Verify all routing, payment callbacks, webhooks, and email templates on a private staging URL.
Step 3: Scheduled Database Read-Only Sync
Put your legacy site in brief maintenance mode to capture the final delta of bookings, migrate the database dump, and verify table counts.
Step 4: DNS Cutover
Update your A and CNAME records to point to the HostSynk server cluster. Monitor real-time access logs as global traffic shifts seamlessly to the high-performance stack.
Step 5: Post-Launch SSL Verification
Issue SSL certificates immediately and verify that payment webhooks receive confirmation pings with HTTP 200 responses.
